Super Bowl XLIX Drinks

1/29/2015

It’s that time of the sporting event season where we all gather around our TV’s, watch fun commercials, eat BBQ crockpot wieners, and celebrate every touchdown our team makes.  We are bringing you 2 quick and easy Super Bowl cocktails. These two drinks could be perfect to make ahead in batches if you’re not worried about presentation, or you could mix them up individually and serve them.

They are super simple, and they are perfect whether you are a Seahawks or a Patriots fan.  Enjoy the game, and if you are partying with the cocktails, please do it responsibly.  Best of luck to both teams.

Manhattan Iced Tea

The Manhattan Iced Tea was a special request, so like all special requests we created the drink. The Manhattan Iced Tea is a variation of the Manhattan Cocktail and not the Long Island Iced Tea. A Manhattan Iced Tea in my opinion is a little more sophisticated and a lot less “party” oriented, though there is nothing like a party once the Long Islands start flowing.

The Manhattan Iced Tea is just whiskey (or Rye), Sweet and Sour Mix, Sweet Vermouth and a splash of cola for color and garnish with a lemon and/or cherry. It’s a great cocktail to make in batches as well for parties add all ingredients and let the guests add the cola themselves. Both versions of the Manhattan are amazing, and suggest trying them….but in moderation. ENJOY!

Country Thyme

This wonderful summer cocktail has quickly become a favorite of mine. I make it a little different than the original recipe I found in a Woman’s Day magazine back in the day. In the original recipe you muddle blueberries with thyme. I prefer not to do it that way, only because I prefer the smell of thyme over the taste of thyme and I like to let the blueberries soak up the flavor of the cocktail.

It’s a quick basic recipe, that consists of vodka, agave syrup, and citrus juice. It would be great to mix this in a large batch and pour in some masons jars to keep on ice a t your next gathering. Grab a chair, grab a Country Thyme and watch the sunset. ENJOY!

We recently found a new follower on our Instagram feed and wanted to check them out. This led us to VO|CO Vodka Infused Coconut Water. None of us on staff have ever been a huge fan of coconut water so it was a little bit of a hard sell to get us to go out and purchase it.
In the end, we are glad we did. Checkout our video review.

With the holidays behind us, and Spring peeking it’s little head around the corner, we felt it was appropriate to bring this cocktail to you.  The most important step in this cocktail is, you will want to pick your favorite bourbon for the base (please make sure it’s a quality one), you will next add some Ginger Beer (add to your taste), you will finish off this cocktail by filling the glass with sparkling cider.  It’s a pretty basic cocktail, and is perfect for sitting beside the fire pit on a cool, crisp Spring evening as you watch the sunset.  Enjoy responsibly!
  • 2 oz. Bourbon
  • Ginger Beer (add to taste)
  • Fill w/ Sparkling Apple Cider
